Former White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs used the occasion of the Republican debate moderated by Donald Trump as an opportunity to mock the Republican field.
“Cancel Christmas; just get ready for the Donald Trump debate,” Gibbs said today on Morning Joe. “Pay-per-view [the debate].”
Joking about Trump’s ongoing belief that President Obama’s citizenship needs further investigation, Gibbs said that “the new rule — I think you’ve heard — you have to have your birth certificate to participate in the debate.”
“I’ve never seen so many people fall over themselves for a guy,” he concluded “who Fox’s own poll showed that, if you got his endorsement, five percent of the people would be more in favor of you and 30 percent of the people would be less in favor of you.”
