A win for Baltimore Ravens fans, a win for Washington Nationals fans and a win for Baltimore Orioles owner Peter Angelos.
That sums up a recent deal announced by Angelos? Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) and Comcast Corp. to begin televising MASN programs, which will include Nationals baseball and Ravens football games in September. MASN recently became the exclusive network for Ravens games after the Ravens left Comcast?s SportsNet.
Comcast and MASN reached agreement on Friday, the day Angelos? MASN pledged to seek arbitration to settle the 16-month dispute on the airing the games.
To get Angelos? approval to allow the Nationals to come to Washington, Major League Baseball gave Angelos exclusive broadcast rights to televise Nationals games, but he and Comcast could not reach agreement on financial terms for the games to be broadcast on Comcast cable stations.
“This is great news for sports fans throughout the mid-Atlantic region,” Angelos said in a statement announcing the deal, whose terms were not disclosed.
Comcast Executive Vice President David Cohen said in a statement; “We?ve always wanted to bring the Nationals to Comcast customers.”
