REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A man who went with friends for an early morning swim in the Pacific Ocean drowned Saturday, authorities said.
Marlon Fajardo Jr., 21, was last seen alive around 4 a.m. in the waters off Redondo Beach, Redondo Beach Police Sgt. Paul Ribitzki said. His body was found by search crews around 10 a.m.
Waves in the area were larger than normal because of Hurricane Norbert, which is churning north along the coast of Mexico.
