By the Numbers: John Edwards most unpopular pol ever

John Edwards has hit rock bottom.

Again.

The former Democratic vice presidential candidate has hit an all-new polling low. In a survey released Tuesday, Public Policy Polling found just 15 percent of North Carolina voters hold a favorable opinion of their former senator.

Edwards already had the worst numbers ever seen by pollsters at that firm, but upon the release of “Game Change,” where the he and his wife are referred to as “Saint Elizabeth and the Ego Monster,” Edwards now has broken his own record. Elizabeth Edwards’ numbers have taken an even bigger hit, but she is still viewed more favorably than her husband.

See how they’ve dropped:

Percent of North Carolina voters who view John Edwards favorably

January 2010: 15 percent

May 2009: 19 percent

Percent of North Carolina voters who view Elizabeth Edwards favorably

January 2010: 46 percent

May 2009: 58 percent
