Cold Spring Brewing opening $12M brewhouse

COLD SPRING, Minn. (AP) — Central Minnesota’s Cold Spring Brewing Co. made a lot of cheap beer over the years. Now it’s hoping a new $12 million brewhouse could put some bad memories to rest.

When its Third Street Brewhouse comes online in just more than a week, the St. Cloud Times reports (http://on.sctimes.com/MeJrtG), many of the 200-plus employees should get a boost in self-esteem. A gleaming five-tank, computerized system will replace an antiquated two-vessel setup in an old building and — perhaps most important — produce three new craft beers as its signature offerings.

Early next week, crews will begin bottling Bitter Neighbor black India pale ale, Lost Trout brown ale; and Rise to the Top cream ale. They will be available in bars and restaurants beginning June 28, and in stores June 29.
