Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is the Democratic frontrunner for the 2020 New Hampshire primary, according to a new poll released Wednesday.
According to a Suffolk University poll of the first-in-the-nation primary, Warren is ahead of former Vice President Joe Biden and other leading Democrats, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who won the 2016 New Hampshire primary.
Warren leads with 26 percent support to Biden’s 20 percent. Sanders is in third with 13 percent, while Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., took 8 percent. None of the other Democrats won more than 5 percent support, a group that includes Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
The poll said 18 percent are undecided at this very early stage.
Warren is currently running for re-election in Massachusetts, where she is likely to cruise to a second term in the Senate.
Several Democrats have already ventured up to New Hampshire during the 2018 cycle, including Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander.
On the Republican side, 41 percent of those polled support President Trump, while 52 percent disapprove.
When matched up against potential GOP primary opponents, Trump handily defeats all comers, including Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., who is retiring from the Senate.
The Republican who fares the best against Trump one-on-one is former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who is running in Utah to replace Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah.
