RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — State and local elections officials are looking for volunteers for the upcoming November general election.
The State Board of Elections says citizens wishing to volunteer as officers of election can now apply online at the state agency’s website.
Local election officials will automatically be notified of volunteer offers by submitting the form at www.sbe.virginia.gov/officers .
Officials say that officers of election are an important part of the elections process. Those wishing to volunteer must be registered to vote.
Also a new law enacted this year allows for officers of election to volunteer their time rather than being paid for their services.
