UPDATE: Man, dog die from injuries in Bladensburg crash

UPDATE, 5:13 p.m.: Police identified the victim as 65-year-old Wendell Youngblood, of Suitland. He was killed when he drove the vehicle off the road and into a utility pole. Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, and the accident is still under investigation.

A dog was also in the car and sustained serious injuries. The dog was euthanized because of the severity of its wounds.

ORIGINAL POST: 12:08 p.m.: Prince George’s County police are investigating a fatal crash in Bladensburg.

The one-car accident happened shortly after 1:45 a.m. on the 3500 block of Bladensburg Road.

One person was in the vehicle at the time. That person was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash. No addditional information was available about the accident or the person’s identity.
