FROSTBURG, Md. (AP) — Frostburg State University is putting online a series of student films documenting traditional Appalachian food production.
The first film in the Sustainable Foodways Series was posted earlier this month on the Appalachian Independent, www.appindie.org , a website co-founded by Assistant Professor of Sociology Kara Rogers Thomas.
The film, produced by student Mitch Houck, documents the organic farming practices of Back Bone Farms near Oakland.
Thomas says the project aims to strengthen public appreciation and awareness of sustainable food traditions in western Maryland.
