Obama on RNC: ‘It should be a pretty entertaining show’

President Obama during a campaign rally at Iowa State University gave a rather sarcastic endorsement of the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

“It should be a pretty entertaining show,” he told a crowd of students there. ”And I’m sure they’ll have some wonderful things to say about me.”

The president went on to dismiss the solutions being offered at the GOP event.

“What you won’t hear from them is a path forward that meets the challenges of our time,” he said.

Obama is embarking on a three-day campaign trek through Iowa, Colorado and Virginia against the backdrop of the GOP gathering in Florida. Traditionally, the president lays low during the opposing party’s convention but team Obama counters that the 2012 race requires the incumbent to take on a more rigorous schedule.
