Two people have died and two others have been injured after an assailant stabbed four people Tuesday night in two related incidents in Taunton, Mass., 40 miles south of Boston. The attacker was shot at one of the scenes and was pronounced dead by hospital officials.
The first incident happened during the 6 o’clock hour at a home on Myrick Street, according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police. The attacker may have been involved in a car crash on Myrick Street prior to going after the first two people.

The assailant then fled to the Silver City Galleria where he crashed his vehicle into the Macy’s department store, exited his car and stabbed two more people. An off-duty police officer shot the suspect, who later died at the hospital.
Police are still investigating a motive for the attacks, but have ruled out any connection to terrorism.
