Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Tuesday that calls for President Barack Obama’s impeachment are a “scam started by Democrats at the White House” and a new study might just prove that true.
While the origin of the impeachment narrative continues to be debated between the parties, Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight has definitely concluded that the liberal media is responsible for furthering the narrative.
In fact, Silver notes that Democrats and the liberal media are “way more obsessed” with impeachment.
Silver used cable news to make his analysis. He compared how often conservative Fox News and liberal MSNBC have used the words “impeachment” or “impeach” on their networks during July.
He found that MSNBC has said those two words 448 times. Meanwhile, Fox News has uttered them a measly 95 times.
Silver notes that MSNBC’s 448 instances mean they mention impeachment “once every 22 minutes.” MSNBC’s “The Ed Show” mentioned impeachment 32 times on Monday’s show.
There’s some small relief in all this report. Silver reports MSNBC “hasn’t become quite as obsessed with impeachment as CNN was with Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.”
“It may be getting there,” he warns.
The Democratic National Committee certainly hopes it does. They reportedly raised 2.1 million this past weekend by using the supposedly impending impeachment in emails.
