State of the Union 2023: How long does Biden’s speech last?

State of the Union addresses vary widely in every president’s administration, the length of each reflecting a president’s style and the number of important topics that need to be addressed.

Former President Bill Clinton holds the record for the longest State of the Union speech after his final address, on Jan. 27, 2000, clocked in at one hour, 28 minutes, and 49 seconds, according to the American Presidency Project. Former President Richard Nixon holds the record for the shortest, with his Jan. 20, 1972, address lasting just 28 minutes and 55 seconds.
