Troopers pulled over a truck on Interstate 95 in Fairfax County after a driver reported seeing a body on the vehicle.
Virginia State Police stopped the tractor trailer around 3 p.m. Tuesday near Lorton, and a corpse was indeed on the truck’s roof, police said. Authorities determined that the death occured in Maryland and Maryland State Police were investigating.
A Maryland State Police spokesman said an autopsy was conducted Wednesday and it appears the death was a suicide. The person likely jumped off the Woodrow Wilson Bridge pedestrian walkway that spans the Potomac River and connects Prince George’s County to Alexandria, police said.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
