Round 2 in Boston between the Bruins and the Caps after a 3-1 loss on Tuesday night at Verizon Center. The Post’s Katie Carrera reports that Semyon Varlamov was first off the ice at the morning skate and likely in goal for his first start of the season. He stopped 14 of 15 shots in relief of an ill Michal Neuvirth. The lineup should start the same as yesterday’s practice with centers Marcus Johansson and Tomas Fleischmann flipping spots on the second and third lines.

Matt Bradley (lower-body injury) was not listed as a scratch before the previous Boston game or the Nashville game last Saturday That’s because he was placed on injured reserve – though after tonight’s game he’s eligible to come off at any time. Defenseman Mike Green (upper-body injury) and forward Boyd Gordon (undisclosed) also did not make the trip.

It is the home opener for the Bruins, who split a pair of games with Phoenix in Prague to start the season. After six days off following their trip to the Czech Republic Boston returned with road wins at New Jersey and Washington. It has allowed just two goals in its last three games. According to the Boston Globe it looks like Tuukka Rask gets the start for the Bruins after Tim Thomas played so well against the Caps on Tuesday night with 35 saves on 36 shots. That was a season-high number of shots for the Caps, who will play in an opponents’ home opener three times in their first four road games.
