One person was injured after being shot at Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, Virginia, Thursday afternoon, local police reported.
Prince William County police said the investigation into the shooting is still ongoing, and people are encouraged to stay away from the area, despite the immediate threat having passed. The shooting was an isolated incident in one store.
A preliminary investigation found a suspect inside the Fashion Mechanics store had allegedly entered into an altercation with another customer that ended with one of the two being shot.

“During the altercation, one patron retrieved a firearm and fired multiple rounds, striking the other individual,” a police report revealed.
Both men involved in the incident fled the scene before police arrived, however the injured man drove himself to the hospital and was being treated for non life-threatening injuries, the report said. No other injuries have been reported.

A witness in the mall who heard the gunshots told Inside NoVa that people hid in the Marshall’s stock room because they believed there was an active shooter.
Another witness told the outlet they had originally believed the weapon was a machine gun after hearing what seemed like multiple shots fired at once. Police, however, have not identified the type of gun used in the incident.
The shooter has not been located or identified.
