Off-duty Texas trooper accidentally shoots self

MADISONVILLE, Texas (AP) — A Central Texas trooper has undergone surgery after being shot in the stomach when his personal firearm accidentally fell from his truck and discharged.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Felipe Garcia was transported to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan and was in stable condition Thursday.
