The Democratic National Committee slammed 2016 Republican presidential candidate Scott Walker’s healthcare plan and called him a failure as Wisconsin governor.
Walker’s plan would not “repeal and replace” Obamacare as promised, but rather completely destroy the country’s healthcare system, Ken Martin, Minnesota Democratic-Framer Labor Party chair, told reporters on a conference call hosted by the DNC. He went on to claim 19 million Americans would lose their health insurance if Obamacare were repealed.
Martin blamed Walker for deficit spending in Wisconsin and added that “overall Walker has failed Wisconsin” and his “priorities were out of order.”
Walker’s proposed plan to repeal Obamacare involves setting up a system to eliminate federal mandates and provide tax credits based on their age rather than their income or family status. The plan aims to give more control to the states and doing away with requirements for insurers to cover maternity care and mental health services.
“If this vague grab-bag of conservative wish-list items is the best health plan the GOP can come up with for the largest economy on earth, it’s the clearest signal yet that Republicans like Scott Walker are out of ideas and out of touch,” DNC spokesman Eric Walker said.
