Mitt Romney: Kathy Griffin’s photo descends into ‘vile territory’

Mitt Romney joined a chorus of voices condemning comedienne Kathy Griffin for posting a photo of her holding a fake severed head resembling that of President Trump.

“Our politics have become too base, too low, & too vulgar, but Kathy Griffin’s post descends into an even more repugnant & vile territory,” the 2012 GOP nominee tweeted Tuesday evening.

Romney’s message follows a tweet from Chelsea Clinton, who said the picture is “vile and wrong,” as well as condemnation from journalists who slammed the gruesome photo.

Griffin responded to the criticism claiming the imagery was a reference to Trump’s crude “blood” comment during the campaign about former Fox News host Megyn Kelly. “OBVIOUSLY, I do not condone ANY violence by my fans or others to anyone, ever! I’m merely mocking the Mocker in Chief,” she said in a tweet.
