WATCH: Steny Hoyer needs to be reminded to stand for Zelensky

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, a Maryland Democrat, appeared to be verbally prodded by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a California Democrat, after he remained seated following Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s virtual address to Congress.

After the war-weary Zelensky spoke to a joint session of Congress, the entire group of lawmakers rose to their feet in applause with only one visual exception.

Hoyer remained seated.

Leaning back with his legs crossed, the majority leader appeared to be taking notes.

He was seemingly unaware that all of his colleagues were on their feet applauding the Ukrainian leader.

The 82-year-old Democrat finally jumped to his feet when Pelosi, who was seated next to him, turned to Hoyer and appeared to make him aware of the situation.
