WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The last defendant in a 30-person drug ring that spanned from Arizona to Florida has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami reported Monday that 31-year-old Jerrick David Bartee was also sentenced to five years of supervised release. Officials say the West Palm Beach man conspired to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine by the U.S. Mail and other shipping companies.
Once the cocaine arrived in South Florida, authorities say members of the organization turned the drugs into crack cocaine to be sold on the streets of Lake Worth.
The others named in the conspiracy were arrested in February 2013 and have since been sentenced to prison.
