OSWEGO, N.Y. (AP) — The State University of New York at Oswego is among 24 colleges and universities nationwide to share in a $75 million Education Department grant program to foster innovation in college value and efficiency.
SUNY Oswego will receive $2.88 million as its share of the “First in the World” grant program. The U.S. Department of Education says almost 500 schools applied for the grants. Applicants submitted proposals with plans in areas such as improving graduation rates, making it smoother to transfer between schools and increasing enrollment in science and technology programs.
Lorrie Clemo, provost at Oswego, says the program will help low-income first-generation students transition from two-year schools to four-year degree programs at Oswego.
