Donald Trump Jr.: ‘I am not running in 2018’

Donald Trump Jr. says he won’t be entering the race for the New York governorship next year amid a report that he was considering a run.

“I am not running in 2018,” Trump told the Associated Press in his first public comments about a possible candidacy.

Trump didn’t close the door on a future run.

“Maybe someday … you never know,” he said.

Page Six reported last week that Trump told an elite gun club he was “interested in running for office, such as governor of New York.”

The guest added that Trump said he was not interested in being the mayor of New York City, nor a member of Congress.

Trump confirmed to the AP that he doesn’t plan to run for mayor.

“People keep asking me: when are you running for mayor?” he said. “Well, I’m not. If I was, New York City mayor is much less interesting to me than perhaps other things like governor of a state. That’s not saying I’m running. It’s just saying that, hey, if I ever did something, I’d probably be more interested in something like that.”

Trump took over Trump Organization with his brother Eric when their father became president.
