Race-baiting reached a new low at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) last week, as the university hosted a conference organized by the Critical Race Studies in Education Association. Some of the future Jesse Jacksons and Al Sharptons of the world gathered together to hear speakers denounce “whiteness” and delight in “white tears.”
The conference selected only the most qualified — and militant — race baiters to address its audience, and attendees eagerly tweeted out the philosophical brilliance they gained from these so-called intellectuals.
According to one attendee, Michael Dumas, a professor at UC Berkeley, offered the following quote during his speech: “Whiteness has already been constructed against blackness. There is no virtue in whiteness, it is inherently violent.”
Another attendee quoted him saying: “Whiteness and the United States knows itself through the violence and death of the subordinated.”
Is it any wonder why groups like Black Lives Matter find it difficult to have any meaningful dialogue with those who are not black? When impressionable students are indoctrinated to believe that white people are animals who want to subordinate and kill black people, all opportunity for dialogue on equal terms is obliterated. At this point, diversity of opinion becomes meaningless, and for proponents of critical race theory, it even becomes a symbol of white supremacy.
Professor David Stovall, one of the university’s own, had some prophetic words to say about this. “The term ‘diversity of opinion’ is white supremacist bullsh**,” Stovall apparently told the audience. From this quote, one can only assume that the rest of the conference speakers fell in line with Stovall’s and Dumas’ views so as to not project white supremacy.
Perhaps the best quote from the conference came from Professor Theodorea Berry, who observed, “Some people need to be slapped into wokeness.”
When pressed for clarification by Campus Reform, she attempted to “elaborate” on this seemingly violent comment with some sophisticated-sounding academic jargon. She explained that the “notion of being ‘slapped into wokeness’ is one where an individual comes to gain [a] level of understanding about others’ oppression by experiencing oppression.” She also noted that “[t]he proverbial ‘slap’ is the incident of marginalization,” and “[t]he ‘wokeness’ is the realization that regardless of your privilege, marginalization can occur.”
This laughable explanation exposes the underlying issue with critical race theory: those who promulgate it will never be content with any progress. White people will always remain the scapegoat for these professional hate-mongers, who depend on critical race theory for their bread and butter. In their eyes, white people are simply born with a chip on their shoulder, and this will never go away…even if they stay woke.
