Stacey Abrams is not sorry as long as she still supports anti-science mask mandates in schools

Stacey Abrams went on CNN to apologize for her maskless picture in a school with children, all of whom were forced to wear masks. But, by her own admission, she is only sorry for the perception the photo generates.

If she were truly contrite, she would support giving children the same freedom she herself enjoys to ignore such mandates.

Abrams told CNN’s Erin Burnett that she was sorry she did “anything that could be perceived as undermining” protocols for “protecting our kids.” She said she was caught up in the “excitement” of the visit and lamented that children must be forced to wear masks because of Georgia’s low vaccination rate.

But Abrams is only sorry that her photo-op backfired — she’s not sorry about anything she did. Abrams took several such maskless photos during this publicity stunt, as OutKick revealed. She is not sorry that she went maskless while the less important adults and children around her were forced to remain masked. She is not sorry that children are being forced to wear masks eight hours each day, even though they are at less risk from COVID and at less risk of spreading COVID than she is.

She is only sorry that she handed her GOP opponents an easy, effective campaign ad. That is all she cares about.

‘CRUELTY AND HYPOCRISY’: STACEY ABRAMS SLAMMED FOR NOT WEARING MASK IN CLASSROOM

If Abrams truly wanted to make this right, she would support eliminating mask mandates for children. From the beginning of the pandemic to now, children have been at less risk from COVID than from the flu, and they are at less risk from COVID than are most vaccinated adults. Science is not and never has been dictating COVID restrictions and mandates in schools. But Abrams doesn’t care about science or the education and emotional development of children — she just doesn’t want to fall afoul of the teachers unions who will own her if she becomes governor.

Abrams was already unqualified to be elected to anything, let alone to be put in charge of a state. She is an election conspiracy theorist and denialist who would be completely shunned in politics if Democrats and their media allies actually believed any of their own rhetoric about the integrity of elections. Her brazen, smug hypocrisy and lack of judgment when it comes to masking in schools is only one more reminder that she should be nowhere near public office at any level of government.

Children should not be forced to wear masks or shoulder any COVID restrictions at this point. They are not at serious risk, and they never have been. Abrams and others who stubbornly resist this truth do not deserve the power to tell schools what they should or shouldn’t be doing.
