Joe Scarborough has had it with pundits who claim Donald Trump’s political demise is imminent.
The MSNBC anchor, who hosts “Morning Joe,” is blasting CNN and CNBC, his own network’s sister news outlet, for their “outrageous” coverage of the Republican presidential candidate and the future of his campaign.
“Literally, the media narrative, including on CNBC, was that Ben Carson is now the leader,” Scarborough said on his program Friday, referring to widespread speculation that Trump was headed for doom after a CBS/New York Times poll last week showed Carson with a four-point edge over Trump.
“Another poll came out that had Trump up by five or six points. I don’t think people should be shocked Trump is in first place again,” Scarborough, who’s often been dubbed MSNBC’s “token conservative,” asserted.
“We’ve been talking about the media — they are all Trump deniers … I think we all have to admit, there’s a built-in bias for Donald Trump’s collapse, and there has been,” he added.
Political analyst Eugene Robinson added, “People don’t believe their eyes. They don’t believe the numbers.”
“Trump has been around basically in first place since July. It’s silly. He’s [in] a commanding position in this race and he’s going to be there, I think, for the foreseeable future,” Robinson added.
Sure enough, Trump came out on top Friday in a post-debate poll by Rasmussen Reports. The billionaire earned 26 percent support among Republican voters while Carson kept a close difference at 21 percent. Trump and Carson are in second and fourth place, respectively, in the latest Washington Examiner presidential power rankings.
