Rapper Kanye West confessed to a crowd Thursday night that he did not vote in the 2016 presidential election, but if he had, he would’ve been on the winning side.
“I told y’all I didn’t vote, right? But I didn’t tell you, I guess I told you, but if I would’ve voted, I would’ve voted on Trump,” he told the California crowd, whose reaction ranged from half-hearted cheers to outright boos.
West continued to get political as the night went on, saying that he doesn’t know what kind of president Trump would be, or how Washington will react to him.

“Does he have the ability to work with the best of class? People be joking about Donald. ‘Oh, he didn’t even know he had to do this, he had to do that.’ But does he have the ability to work with the best of class?” West asked, as the crowd continued to voice their mixed reactions.
“Whether there will be a prejudice because of something he would’ve said earlier, when he was running to win,” he continued. “A prejudice against something he did, in order to win. But if he takes the same model I’m gonna take in 2020 …”
The video trails off there, but this might be the first time West has mentioned his plan to run for president in 2020 — which would presumably involve taking on Trump — since he first broke the news of his presidential aspirations at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
According to one Twitter user, West’s entire Thursday-night set was littered with his political commentary.
