Nancy Pelosi: The government created the iPhone [VIDEO]

If you ask a liberal why the chicken crossed the road, they will always respond with “they’d have no street to cross if the government didn’t build one.”

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) gave such an answer during the Democratic National Convention platform hearing on Thursday when she credited the federal government with building the iPhone.

“This smart phone almost everything came from federal investments in research,” Pelosi said. “GPS created by the military, flat screens, LLD, digital camera, wireless data compression.”

“Look at the Association for the Advancement of Science in America and they have the full list,” she continued. “They say Steve Jobs had a good idea designing it and putting it together, federal research invented it.”

To fall back to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in 2012, “you didn’t build that.”

Unless something came from the physical sweat of your brow, you owe to the government and only a collective, intrusive, regulatory body that tells you how much salt to put in your food and how much water in your toilet has gotten society to where it is today.

Pelosi fails to see that almost every nation on Earth has roads, a military, and a national government — but what makes America unique is having a free enterprise system, a profit motive, and, for lack of a better term, a “Protestant” work ethic.

North Korea has both a military and roads, but without capitalism they can’t even create Gangnam Style.
