A suspected illegal immigrant is charged with aggravated involuntary manslaughter in an alleged drunken-driving crash that killed a Fairfax Station man.
Police said 33-year-old Carlos Sanchez-Ramos was driving north on Richmond Highway near the Fairfax County Parkway around 5:20 p.m. Monday when he lost control and struck 54-year-old Paul J. Krause’s Ford Fusion, then hit a Mercedes-Benz.
Krause died at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman said the agency has lodged a detainer on Sanchez-Ramos.
Police said Sanchez-Ramos fled the scene with the 3-year-old boy who was in his car and was apprehended nearby. The child was unharmed. A 31-year-old male passenger in Sanchez-Ramos’ vehicle and the two people in the Mercedes-Benz were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
