The Oscars may be host-less this year, but the movie awards show still squeezed in a joke at the expense of President Trump within the first 10 minutes.
After a musical tribute to Queen, three comedians — Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph — came onstage and noted there was no host. Then Rudolph made the first political joke of the night.
“Just a quick update, in case you’re confused. There is no host tonight, there won’t be a popular movie category, and Mexico is not paying for the wall,” she quipped to loud applause.

Since the 2016 campaign, Trump repeatedly said Mexico would foot the bill for his proposed wall along the U.S-Mexico border. He ultimately declared a national emergency earlier this month to divert funding to build a wall after a spending bill this month failed to provide most of the funds he demanded for the project.
The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., predicted earlier Sunday that celebrities would take aim at his father.
“I’ll save you guys the trouble & summarize the #Oscars so you don’t have to watch,” Trump Jr. said. “Trump: bad, despite booming economy & lowest black/Hispanic unemployment ever. Walls: Immoral, except outside our houses. Socialism: Pay no attention to mayhem in Venezuela, let’s give it a try.”
