Carson: Trump is ‘not a racist’

Ben Carson does not believe Donald Trump is a racist. He says those labeling the GOP front-runner as such are using “third-grade tactics” devised by the Left.

“No he’s not a racist, but you know what the Left does,” Carson said Friday evening on Fox News’ “The O’Reilly Factor.” “You know if you don’t agree with them, you know, you’re a racist, you’re a homophobe, you’re Islamophobic. You know they have a whole passel of terms they’re going to throw at you and what people have to do is stop being afraid of these names.”

“You know this is like third grade tactics,” Carson added. “If you’re going to let that keep you from doing and saying what you need to say, then you are a third grader.”

His appearance Friday comes one day after speaking to the hosts of “The View” whom he told he doesn’t “condone” Trump’s recent attacks on rival Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi Cruz. Carson, who endorsed Trump after ending his own campaign for president, was confronted by host Whoopi Goldberg who called the billionaire candidate a “racist.”

“You have to look at the good and the bad, there is no perfect person. … I look at the big picture,” Carson said on why he is chose to back Trump despite the media mogul’s controversial rhetoric.
