SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Former Olympic high jump champion Stefka Kostadinova has been re-elected as president of Bulgaria’s national Olympic committee.

Committee members voted 44-35 on Thursday to give Kostadinova a third four-year term.

The 48-year-old Kostadinova had faced challenge from two former sports ministers, Vesela Lecheva and Vasil Ivanov. Kostadinova has been criticized after Bulgaria failed to win a gold medal for the first time since 1952, coming up empty at last year’s London Olympics.

Kostadinova won the Olympic gold in Atlanta in 1996 and was world champion in 1987 and 1995. She still holds the world high jump record.
