Former Republican presidential candidate Jim Gilmore is backing Donald Trump for president in November.
“I will vote for Donald Trump,” Gilmore said Thursday on Fox Business.
He said it’s important for Republicans to unite and prevent Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton from winning the White House.
Despite having disagreements about Trump’s approach to particular groups like women and Hispanics, Gilmore said Republicans should “commit ourselves to a new future,” and Trump can do that.
This is the first time the former governor of Virginia has endorsed a candidate since he ended his longshot White House bid in February.
