Donald Trump’s campaign manager complained Wednesday that the GOP nominee did not win much praise for not insulting Hillary Clinton during Monday night’s debate.
Trump has railed against “Crooked Hillary” Clinton on the campaign trail, but referred to her as Secretary Clinton during the debate. Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly that Trump’s graciousness was undercovered.

“I think he’s gotten very little credit, Megyn, for how gracious he was at the beginning and at the end of the debate,” Conway told Fox News. “At the very beginning, nobody is covering this, he actually said, ‘Secretary Clinton’ and then he looked over and he said, ‘May — should I call you Secretary Clinton? I want you to be happy. It’s very important to me.'”
She pointed out that Trump also announced to those watching the debate that he had decided not to say some “rough stuff” because Clinton’s family was present in the room. Conway added that Trump said, “it is not nice” that Clinton would run negative ads against him.
“Kellyanne, come on,” Kelly responded.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated the day Conway’s comments were made.
