Obama’s Israel problem

Democrats may attempt to spin the significance of the Republican victory in the NY-9 special election yesterday, in which Bob Turner defeated Democrat David Weprin by campaigning against President Obama in a traditionally Democratic district. That’s tough to spin. At the very least, though, the election revealed the weakening of Obama’s support among traditionally Democratic Jewish voters.

Dan Senor drafted a chronology of Obama’s interaction and policies regarding Israel, with this conclusion:

Mr. Obama has made some meaningful exceptions, particularly having to do with security partnership, but overall he has built the most consistently one-sided diplomatic record against Israel of any American president in generations. His problem with Jewish voters is one of substance, not messaging.

Senor’s point bears remembering as Obama reportedly goes into damage control with the Jewish community. You can read the full column here.
