Former Vice President Joe Biden got a little ahead of himself about his plans for a 2020 White House run at an event Saturday evening.
He was speaking to a group of Delaware Democrats at their party fundraising dinner.
“I have the most progressive record of anybody running for the United … anybody who would run,” Biden said.

That moment made the front page in the local newspaper, the Delaware State News. The top story bore the headline “Biden hints at run” and said it was “only a matter of time” and “The only thing missing was one simple phrase: ‘I’m running for president.'”

Biden served as a senator for Delaware from 1973 to 2009 and conducted two unsuccessful campaigns for president over the years.
Biden, 76, has not yet announced a presidential run, but he is leading polls in some key states, like Iowa. He leads an average of polls by RealClearPolitics with 29 percent, trailed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., at 22 percent.
