“Malaise is haunting the Democratic party,” reads the headline over E. J. Dionne’s Washington Post column today urging Democrats “to have a self-confident sense of purpose and to act boldly in its pursuit.” A better headline, I think, in light of the dismal polling statistics which Dionne accurately recites, would be: “O.K., you lemmings, march!”
