CNBC’s John Harwood and The Post and Courier (audio) report from South Carolina that a PAC supportive of Sen. Ted Cruz has a robocall running about the Confederate flag, saying “Trump talks about our flag like it’s a social disease.”
“Our flag” refers to the Confederate flag, not the American flag.
Cruz robo-call in SC hitting front-runner for backing removal of Confederate flag: “Trump talks about our flag like it’s a social disease.”

In an apparently desperate play to turn out disgruntled southerners, this pro-Cruz PAC robocall could damage Cruz’s image with millennials and states outside the south — where the flag is very unpopular and seen as a symbol of racism.
The ad attacks Donald Trump, but also takes a jab at Gov. Nikki Haley, saying, “That’s Donald Trump supporting Nikki Haley removing the battle flag from the Confederate memorial in Columbia.”
Last-minute robocalls from Cruz’s campaign and support groups continue to plague the Senator; Cruz was forced to apologize to Dr. Ben Carson after a Cruz robocall claimed Carson was leaving the race.
Will Sen. Cruz disavow this ad?
