Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan received his final chemotherapy treatment on Monday, bringing to a close his year and a half battle with cancer.
The first-term Republican governor said he has been declared completely cancer-free and is in remission. Hogan posted a photo of himself with his Facebook friends Monday morning.
“I can’t tell you how it feels to be getting my very last chemo treatment today,” Hogan wrote. “I could never have made it to this point without the amazing support of my family, friends and staff, along with an incredible team of doctors and nurses. I am humbled by the thousands of prayers and well wishes that I received from all around the world.”
Hogan empathized with other cancer victims and their families, vowing to fight for them “until a cure is discovered for this terrible disease.” He was diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in June 2015 and has used his Facebook page since then to share updates with residents about his fight with the disease.
