Watch a D.C. cop bring a little holiday cheer

A Washington, D.C. police officer has taken it upon herself to give back to homeless members of the capital community while on patrol.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Officer Juanita Graham started her own version of the 12 Days of Christmas this December. Through the duration of the project, Graham and her partner give one care package to a homeless person in Ward 1’s 3rd district every day.

Police spokesman Officer Sean Hickman told the Washington Examiner that Graham gives on her own accord, not as a department-wide initiative.

The gift bags contain a handwritten card, toiletries, pair of gloves, hat, fresh sandwich and additional food.

If the two officers do not encounter someone each day, they will look for an additional person to connect with on the following day.

Be on the lookout for Officer Graham in downtown Washington this holiday season.
