BRISTOL, Va. (AP) — Washington County will be the home of the new Southwest Virginia Clean Energy Research & Development Center.
The center will be built on a 2.5-acre site on Lee Highway near Bristol that was acquired by the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.
The Bristol Herald Courier (http://bit.ly/No4bwX ) says Higher Education Center executive director Rachel Fowlkes announced the site selection Tuesday.
Fowlkes says construction is expected to being in the fall.
The center is one of five in the state funded by the Virginia Tobacco Commission.
