Sarah Sanders: House Democrats ‘shouldn’t waste time investigating’

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said Tuesday evening that House Democrats “shouldn’t waste time investigating” the Trump administration if they win control of the chamber in midterm elections.

“If Democrats take the House, they shouldn’t waste time investigating,” Sanders said on Fox News, moments before the channel projected Democrats would win a majority of House seats.

“They should focus on what the people have put them there to do,” Sanders said. “There are things that the president would like to work with them on. And hopefully they will continue to come to the table and be willing do that and not continue to be the party of resist and obstruct, but want to actually work with the president to solve the big problems we have been leading on the last two years.”

The ability of Democrat-controlled House committees to investigate Trump and his administration is seen as a major political consequence of the election, even if Republicans retain control of the Senate.
