Liberal political comedian Bill Maher said that Sen. Al Franken should not be “lumped in” with Roy Moore, Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, and other people accused of sexual assault.
During the opening monologue on his HBO show “Real Time” on Friday, Maher conceded that Franken’s actions were wrong, reacting to journalist Leeann Tweeden accusing the senator this week of groping and kissing her without her consent in 2006. But Maher opined that what Tweeden said Franken did doesn’t compare to other sexual assault accusations of public figures.
“What he doesn’t deserve is to be lumped in with Roy Moore,” Maher said. “Or Kevin Spacey! Or Harvey Weinstein! Or Donald Trump!”
He said that Moore, an candidate for the U.S. Senate from Alabama who has been accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct when they were teenagers, “has spent more time chatting up young girls at the mall than Santa Claus!”
