Golf courses are now rejecting President Obama

A president can no longer just golf like a major champion today.

NBC New York cited sources saying that multiple elite golf courses in the greater New York City area, including former U.S. Open host Winged Foot, turned down President Obama’s request to play a round during the Labor Day weekend. The other two courses were Willow Ridge and the Trump National Golf Club. (Whereas Donald Trump has wanted to see the president’s birth certificate, perhaps he just didn’t want to see his scorecard?)

The news channel has more:

Club managers apparently did not want to inconvenience their high-powered and high-paying members over Labor Day weekend by shutting down their courses to accommodate the president.

The sources said the White House advance team was giving the clubs just a day or two notice to fill the president’s open Saturday morning in New York. Of several courses contacted in New York and Connecticut, a spokesman for Fairview Country Club in Greenwich said it would have accommodated the president if he had asked. That was the only club that said it would.

The report also quotes a political analyst who said Obama’s fading “star quality” may have been to blame for the rejections.

The news comes as the golf industry fights the Obama administration on totally different turf.
