WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Residents looking to learn how to shoot a bow and arrow can sign up for a free bowhunter education course in Palm Beach County.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is hosting the course on Saturday at Gator Guns & Archery Center in West Palm Beach. A commission statement says participants will learn about safe and responsible tree stand usage, big-game shot placement and recovery.
Parents or legal guardians must accompany children under 16 to all classes. To participate in live-fire exercises, children must present a parental release form signed by a parent or legal guardian.
To sign up visit MyFWC.com/HunterSafety. There’s a statewide schedule of other hunter safety classes available on the site.
Students are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
