The Democratic National Committee is trolling Donald Trump with a new website poking fun at his refusal to release his tax returns.
Launched on Wednesday, taxesbytrump.com is aimed at showing how Trump has been evading the standard practice of having nominees release their tax information. The Democrats’ new micro website opens with a “SEE RETURNS” button, but every time a user tries to click it the button moves to the other side of the screen.
“Every major presidential nominee since 1976 has made their tax returns public,” the website said. “Throughout much of his campaign, Donald Trump promised to release his tax returns, but now that he’s the nominee he’s refusing to do so. What is Donald Trump hiding?”
Although the Democrats and Republicans alike have been calling on the presumptive GOP nominee to release his tax returns for months, Trump has said he can’t release the returns as long as he is under audit by the IRS. The IRS has said an audit does not prevent an individual from releasing their returns, and that Trump is free to release the records to the public.
