Megan Riedy has been a defensive mainstay on the Richmond women?s lacrosse team for the past three seasons.
In 2006, Riedy started 19 of Richmond?s 20 games, including the Spiders? season-ending, 9-8 loss to James Madison on Sunday in the NCAA tournament.
As a junior, Riedy had 18 groundballs, 16 draw controls and eight caused turnovers, according to the Richmond athletics Web site. Riedy, who had not registered a point in her freshman and sophomore years, scored three times this season and added an assist.
The Ellicott City resident graduate played four years of varsity lacrosse and varsity soccer for McDonogh School. Athletic talent runs deep in the Riedy family. Her sister, Jenny, played field hockey for Boston College and her sister Erin was a three-time All-American lacrosse player for Randolph-Macon College in Virginia.
