Liberals defend flag burning (but not conservative speech)

Welp, liberals are yet again caught in no man’s land where their only friend is hypocrisy. Time to embrace it.

On Tuesday morning, President-elect Donald Trump sent out a tweet on the issue of flag burning.

Liberals and the mainstream media predictably lost their sh*t.

While flag burning is protected speech under the First Amendment of the Constitution, the President-Elect is hardly the first person to want to banish the act. Back in 2006, then Senator Hillary Clinton co-sponsored a bill to punish those who burned or desecrated the flag with one year in prison and a $100,ooo fine.

The only novel idea from Trump is that he wants to strip citizenship for the act, which currently is unconstitutional.

Yet, now that Democrats, liberals, and the mainstream media, for that matter, find themselves in the minority, their outrage over infringing on free speech and civil liberties has amplified. However, where were they when free speech and civil liberties were under attack over the last eight years under President Obama?

It was nonexistent, and the reason for that is because it was the speech and civil liberties of conservatives that was getting trampled on.

All those Milo Yiannopolous and Ben Shapiro talks that have were shut down on college campuses simply because what they’re saying is triggering to liberals. Just in this past election cycle, Pepe the Frog was deemed an anti-Semitic symbol of the alt-right, scribbling the word “Trump” on a campus sidewalk was considered hate speech, and saying you supported Trump for president made you a racist, misogynist, xenophobe, etc.

Where was the Left and the mainstream media when conservatives were targeted for their beliefs? If anything, the media emboldened the Left to target conservatives for their beliefs to prop up their own agenda.

Now, liberals find themselves in the precarious position of tasting their own medicine, and it is a rude awakening for them.
