Indy Star writer says Daniels in

Mitch Daniels met with The Indianapolis Star’s Editorial Board Tuesday afternoon and the paper produced two writes ups of the event. Columnist Matthew Tully’s piece is headlined “Will Daniels seek presidency? Sounds like it” while Mary Beth Schneider’s article reads “Daniels’ presidential run would take on big issues.” Guess which story scored a Drudge hit. Of course, the Tully piece does not contain a definitive answer from Daniels, but here is Tully’s case for Daniels entry:

Ultimately, Daniels said of the GOP field, “I like all these folks, and odds are I will likely end up supporting one of them.”

He said those words. But he also acknowledged nobody else in the field is seriously addressing the nation’s budget problems. And so, the question remains: Will he become the candidate willing to do so?

It sure sounds like it.

The Schneider article, however, has what is already turning out to be the most memorable Daniels’ line from the sit down:

On Trump: “I don’t know him.” Other, that is, than when the state denied a license renewal for one of Trump’s Indiana casinos. “I’m one of the few people in America who can honestly claim to have said: ‘Donald, you’re fired.’ ”

Zing!
