Lanterns light up the night on Saturday

The Great Halloween Lantern Parade 2008 takes place on Saturday at 7 p.m. Inspired by Lewis Carroll’s wild characters, the parade’s “Beware The Jabberwocky” theme features huge floats, scary stiltwalkers, a new finale, and of course, more than a thousand candle-lit, paper and bamboo lanterns.

Visist the Haunted Hamlet, a Halloween village with hot drinks and live music from local bands like Samba Travao, Mambo Combo’s Escola de Samba, Sac Au Lait and The Barrage Band. In the grand finale, giant bird puppets, pink horses with glowing eyes, 9-foot-tall musical flowers and a huge monster hover above the Pulaski Monument.

The parade begins and ends at the Pulaski Monument, located at Linwood and Eastern avenues in Baltimore. For more information, visit www.lanternparade.org.
